When someone remarks that “you’re going to need a good lawyer”, then they mean retaining the services of an attorney like Bill Brewer. The reason is quite simple: Brewer is one of the leading trial attorneys in West Virginia, but his background as a business owner makes him an asset to those in the corporate world as well. Since Brewer has represented an impressive roster of clients in an equally remarkable number of industries, it’s safe to say that the Morgantown-based attorney can accept nearly any type of case. That’s the depth of experience individuals and businesses have relied on for nearly four decades and continue to do so with the legal team at Brewer and Giggenbach PLLC.

Brewer received his education at West Virginia University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology (1976). A year later, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, also from West Virginia University.  From there, Brewer attended George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Virginia, where, in 1980, he earned a Doctorate of Jurisprudence. Shortly thereafter, Brewer was admitted to practice law in West Virginia (1981) before the U.S. District Court Southern District of West Virginia (1981), before the U.S. Court of Appeals 4th Circuit (1981), before the U.S. District Court Northern District of West Virginia (1982), and before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court (1989).

A trifecta of degrees covering biological science, business and accounting, and then law, has been relied on quite heavily during Brewer’s career as a litigator and corporate attorney. His experiences provide clients with exceptional legal service in matters involving civil, commercial, and even criminal litigation. Brewer’s entrepreneurial history is frequently tapped when guiding clients in corporate law matters, which include commercial real estate and other types of complex transactions. In addition to organizing multifaceted business deals, Brewer is routinely sought for help with issues involving family law, divorce proceedings, and domestic relations. Brewer’s knowledge of physiology has also served a strong role in many personal injury and medical malpractice cases, which have become primary practice areas in the firm that bears his name.

Brewer is extremely respected for his legal work, but he also remains held in high regard in the community and in professional circles.  Brewer is a member of the Monongalia County Bar Association, the West Virginia State Bar, the West Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and the Mountaineers Area Council BSA (Boy Scouts of America).

Brewer is married to Susan S. Brewer, the Chief Executive Officer of Steptoe & Johnson PLLC.  They reside in Morgantown.
